A day in the archipelago
Sailing among islands and reefs, visiting Siriba Island, observing seabird nesting colonies and snorkeling in Abrolhos waters.

Four days in the heart of one of Brazil’s most important humpback whale concentration areas.
Explore the expedition ↓ Talk to ScaleaScalea comes to Abrolhos to take small groups on an experience that brings together what defines us most: whales, photography, knowledge, conservation and the ocean.
We chose to stay in Caravelas and head to sea every day. This gives us comfort on land and the flexibility to choose the best experience according to wind, waves and tides.

The expedition is centered on humpback whale watching. One day is dedicated exclusively to observing whales. On the other sailing days, we stay alert for animals along the way and make the most of every encounter nature offers.
We navigate through areas of greatest concentration without rushing through a checklist of tourist stops. The goal is to have time to observe movements, mothers and calves, social interactions, breaches, tail slaps and other natural behaviors.
At a special moment, we switch off the engines and use a hydrophone to listen to humpback whale songs underwater.
At times of high concentration, numerous groups may be spread throughout the region — and the entire horizon becomes part of the experience.

Flight arrival in Porto Seguro by 9:00 a.m. Transfer to Caravelas (about 4 hours), welcome lunch and visits to visitor and research centers.
Two of the three major days at sea: Abrolhos, Parcel das Paredes or a whale-only observation day. The order is chosen according to the best wind, sea and tide forecast.
On the fourth program day, we enjoy our final experience at sea without ending early for a flight. After returning to Caravelas, the group stays one more night at the hotel. The following morning, the transfer leaves the hotel at 5:00 a.m. for Porto Seguro. We recommend booking a return flight from 10:00 a.m. onward.
The biologist Camilo will accompany the group throughout the experience and lead the educational content about humpback whales.
Gabriel Lisboa and Gisele Sousa will be the expedition guides and photographers. Both know Abrolhos and have visited the region several times.
The small group of only 14 participants was designed for greater comfort on board, more room for photography and a more personal experience.
We want to help you see the ocean as we do: observing behavior, understanding the animals, respecting their limits and documenting encounters that stay with you for life.
For four nights we stay in Caravelas at Marina Porto Abrolhos Hotel, with comfortable rooms, a pool and restaurant. The idea is to return to a comfortable base after every day on the ocean.
Service, respect for marine life and quality on board are part of the Scalea way of navigating.
